Meet Giacomo – Head of Sales

We’re thrilled to welcome Giacomo Bastreri as our new Head of Sales! With a strong background in sales and marketing within the IT industry, Giacomo brings a wealth of experience, business acumen, and a deep passion for building lasting customer relationships.

His expertise in sales, consulting, and business development allows him to take a strategic, customer-focused approach to driving growth. Known for his ability to identify and seize business opportunities, Giacomo’s leadership style fosters collaboration, strengthens client partnerships, and ensures sustainable success. His deep industry knowledge and commitment to value-driven relationships make him a fantastic addition to our team.

Can you tell us a bit about your background in sales?
“My career in sales started after I completed my education at IHM Business School and joined IBM’s Sales Trainee program. That’s where I truly discovered my passion for business development, creating synergies, and building partnerships that benefit both customers and organizations. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked in software, services, and consulting sales in various roles – from specialist and key account manager to partner manager and marketing strategist.”

What drew you to the consulting industry?
“During my time at IBM, I realized the significant impact that consulting firms have. They are the ones closest to the customers, making a real difference. That made me eager to be part of that world. For the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of working in consulting sales across different company sizes – large, small, international, startups – and even as an independent consultant.”

What is your vision for a successful sales team?
“A great sales team is customer-focused and constantly looking to create mutual value. Every day should be about identifying how we can best support our clients. At the same time, teamwork is crucial – we succeed together by sharing knowledge, coaching each other, and collaborating on deals. The ‘lone wolf’ approach rarely leads to sustainable success in sales.”

How do you support and motivate your team?
“I believe different people are motivated by different things, so as a leader, it’s essential to understand everyone’s drive. My role is to coach, be a sounding board, remove obstacles, and create the best possible conditions for my team to focus on customers and achieve their goals.”

What do you find most rewarding about setting and reaching sales targets?
“Setting a goal that is just beyond what seems possible and then working hard to achieve or exceed it is incredibly fulfilling. One of the great things about sales is that it’s measurable – you can track progress and adjust based on data. Understanding what actions lead to success is key.”

Can you share a sales experience that you are particularly proud of?
“One of my most rewarding experiences was turning a dissatisfied customer into a long-term partner. The key was listening, understanding their frustrations, and demonstrating that we could learn from past mistakes. By addressing their concerns transparently and working on a solution together, we not only regained their trust but also identified new business opportunities.”

How would your colleagues describe you as a leader?
“I’ve been described as engaged, knowledgeable, open, and honest. I value teamwork and always strive to support my colleagues. I also believe in thinking long-term and fostering a strong team culture where we enjoy working together and have fun along the way.”

What do you enjoy most about working in a customer-facing role?
“For me, that’s where the magic happens. Everything we do in an organization ultimately serves the purpose of delivering value to our customers. Engaging with different clients, learning about their businesses, and finding ways to help them succeed is what excites me the most.”
